Registration is NOW OPEN.  https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=131861

Now more than ever, we need to take a stand against racism. As many find a reason to divide over differences, we strive to stand together and support those who need it.  As part of RACE AGAINST RACISM, we are coveting to recognize and honor ten (10) Quad Citizens who stand firmly and loudly against racism. Nominations are now being accepted for those who – through their words, choices and actions – have actively made a significant impact against racism in and around the Quad Cities community. Nominations are being accepted through (end of business) on Friday, March 29, 2019 and can be submitted online at https://www.ywcaqc.org.

Grand Marshalls for this inaugural race are YOSAVA AND MOSES ROBINSON from METRO (Motivating Enough to Run On).  Both natives of Rock Island and Rock Island High School graduates, Yosava and Moses have been involved with METRO (on a completely volunteer basis) for over 20 years. METRO’s current enrollment sits at 75 kids, ages 3-20. In addition to pom pom, pee wees, drumline and steppers, METRO also provides tutoring, mentoring and volunteering and to some, an “additional family.” In their own words, “We are inspiring youth by providing a foundation of hope regardless of race, ethnicity, income or upbringing.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event.  For more information on sponsorship, etc., please contact Vice President - Development & Growth, Deanna Woodall at dwoodall@qcywca.org or call 563.275.8749
