THE GROUP OB-GYN NOW OFFERING 3D MAMMOGRAPHY

Davenport, IA (September 23, 2024): The Group Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, P.C. is pleased to announce that they are now offering 3D screening mammography for breast cancer screening. This is in addition to their recent 2024 expansion announcement, which includes interior renovations and approximately 7,300 sq. ft. of additional space.
 
In an effort to provide women with the highest quality care with added convenience, The Group has partnered with Onsite Women’s Health to offer a comprehensive breast cancer screening program in the comfort of their office – including screening mammography using the most advanced technology available. Their new 3D screening mammography can now be performed at their office on the same day as your annual exam, or another time that is convenient for you.
 
Dr. Briana Barclay, physician and co-owner of The Group, expressed her excitement for the addition of services that will better serve current patients and women in the QC and surrounding area.
 
"It has always been a goal to offer on-site mammography, making our practice more of a one-stop shop for our patients," said Barclay. "We recommend mammography screenings annually for women over 40, and for younger women based on a personal risk assessment. Having the ability to schedule patients for a mammogram at the same time as their annual exam will be more convenient for them. Our goal is to save more lives through early detection, and making the scheduling process as easy as possible may encourage more regular screenings."
 
Whether you would like to schedule your mammogram on the same day that you see your provider for your annual exam – or another time that is convenient for you – The Group can take care of that immediately. Should you have any questions during your mammogram, their skilled mammography technologist will take the time to explain everything about your exam, and will work closely with the radiologist to ensure timely results of your mammogram interpretation. After your exam, the office staff will submit a claim for your mammogram with the insurance they have on file for you. The great news is that mammography is considered a preventative health service and is generally covered annually at no out of pocket expense for women over 40.
 
The expansion of maternal and women’s health services in the area was addressed by Dr. Kenneth Naylor, physician and co-owner of The Group.

The Group recommends beginning annual mammograms at age 40 based on screening recommendations from the American Cancer Society, American College of Radiology, American Medical Association and National Cancer Institute – just to list a few. Simply put, annual screening mammography starting at age 40 saves the most lives.

THE GROUP EXPANSION ANNOUNCEMENT
The new building design will enhance the patient experience and improve access to maternal and women’s health services. It will feature 13 new examination rooms, 4 new procedure rooms, 2 patient education rooms, and a new conference room. This expansion will allow for more immediate scheduling opportunities for both new and existing patients.
 
In addition to increasing patient capacity and improving patient access, The Group will begin offering mammography screenings starting in October 2024, projecting 3,000+ screenings on an annual basis.
 
Since relocating and expanding in 2014, The Group has experienced significant growth. The number of patient visits has increased 92% since 2014. The Group currently has twenty-two providers, comprising eight physicians, seven midwives, five nurse practitioners, and two physician assistants. Six of the twenty-two providers joined the practice between 2023 and 2024.
 
Dave Larson, Practice Administrator at The Group, touched on the additional square footage, which will allow for more immediate scheduling opportunities for patients.
